Call to Worship

The Spirit is a force of love, wild and creative:

She tears down the walls of our hearts,

and builds up courage from within.

The Spirit is a practice of freedom:

She is daring and audacious.

She nurtures gentle strength.

That our hope may thrive and justice be our aim,

come, Spirit of Christ, and rise among us.

Hymn #509    All Who Hunger Gather Gladly

Call to Confession

 Prayer of Confession

Gracious Lord, creator of this universe, in your generosity you have given us  a world of abundance and diversity, yet we live guided by greed and selfishness. You created us to live humbly together, in mutual bonds of caring and yet we have built walls to separate us from those who are different from us. We love war rather than strive for peace. We ignore the poor and the weak and honor the rich and powerful. In all this we have not lived according to your will. In your mercy, forgive us our sins.

Words of Assurance and Faith

Friends, rejoice in the good news of the gospel.

In Jesus Christ we are forgiven! Thanks be to God.

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you. And also with you.

Lift up your hearts. We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give God thanks and praise.

..

(repeat sung phrases as directed by the pastor)

“Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest..”

Prayer after the Supper

From every place on this planet, we turn our face to you, O God. Make us a world that grows into the shape of your communion table, where all are welcomed, and all are fed.   Nourish us for your service, so that we may be faithful witnesses to the truth of who we were created to be — people who belong to each other, people who belong to you, In your Son, Jesus. Amen.
