Summary
Trinity Presbyterian Preschool (TPP) opened its doors in September 1957, as a mission and outreach of Trinity Presbyterian Church. At Trinity Preschool, we believe children learn best through hands-on exploration of the world, with an emphasis on social-emotional development. In our learn-through-play preschool program, students develop a solid foundation for success in kindergarten and beyond.
We are actively seeking candidates for the position of Director. The new Director will oversee the daily operations and administration of the preschool beginning the summer leading up to the 2025-2026 school year. Candidates should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as love for children. As the new Director, one should uphold the vision of the preschool with pride, serve the nearly 100 students and families it serves, support the incredible staff, and ensure that the preschool meets the relevant standard set by Arlington County.
Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Management:
o Oversee and participate in the daily operations of the preschool, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children, staff, and families.
o Engage and observe in classrooms to provide support and mentorship to
teachers.
o Hire, supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of 18 staff members, fostering a collaborative and positive work culture.
o Hold monthly staff meetings and trainings.
o Develop and maintain staff schedules and classroom structure to ensure appropriate child-to-teacher ratios.
o Develop and maintain strong relationship with Board, Church, students, and parents.
2. Compliance & Safety:
o Ensure the preschool complies with all licensing, health, and safety regulations.
o Maintain accurate records, including enrollment, attendance, staff certifications, and incident reports.
o Ensure Facilities are well maintained and comply with safety regulations.
3. Family Engagement:
o Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, addressing concerns and fostering strong relationships.
o Organize (along with the Board) and participate in family events to build community engagement.
o Communicate at least weekly with families about program updates, policies, and events.
4. Administrative Duties:
o Manage the preschool’s budget, including prepares payroll report, supplies, and tuition collection.
o Oversee enrollment, class structures and composition, and teacher assignment.
o Collaborate with the board and church leadership to align the preschool’s goals with the broader mission.
o Maintain and manage school policies (including the parent handbook and employee handbook), updating and developing when needed.
5. Perform other duties are reasonably required by the position.
Qualifications:
● A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in a child-related field such as early childhood development, elementary education, special education, nursing, social work, psychology and sociology.
● Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in preschool or childcare center employment.
● Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
● Strong communication skills
● Knowledge of Virginia state and Arlington County licensing regulations and early childhood education best practices.
● Proficiency in budgeting, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
Requirements:
● First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
● MAT Training (or willingness to obtain)
● Criminal/CPS Background Check
● Health form completion approval from physician
Schedule & Compensation:
● The Director Position is a 12-month position
● Approximately 25-30 hours per week during the school year with some flexibility for personal events or emergencies.
