Serving Others: Tithes and Offerings
Trinity has many ways of reaching out to those who are in emergency need. Some of these needs are local and individual and others are brought about by natural disasters throughout the world. We support a variety of local agencies through our budget and gifts to the general operating fund of the church. We also maintain a Building Preservation Fund for replacement of major building systems, e.g. heating, AC, roof, etc.). If you would like to make a pledge or contribute to either of these funds, please click here.
Denomination Offerings:
One Great Hour of Sharing – Our congregation responds generously to emergency and natural disaster assistance through the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering taken on Easter Sunday. These funds are disbursed throughout the U.S. and the wider world by agencies of the PCUSA. Recently, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance responded to flooding and other damage left by hurricanes that traveled up the East Coast.
Peacemaking Offering – Taken on Worldwide Communion Sunday. Supports local and denomination peacemaking projects.
Pentecost Offering – Taken on Pentecost Sunday. Supports child advocacy and youth ministries.
Christmas Joy Offering – Supports retired clergy with catastrophic medical needs and racial/ethnic colleges.
Trinity also supports the denomination by responding through designated giving to special funds set up when specific disasters occur.
Centsability – A monthly offering for local and global hunger initiatives. Families keep a Centsability offering cup on their table at home. At each meal they make an offering in remembrance of those who do not have enough to eat. When we gather around the Lord’s table on the first Sunday of each month these offerings are collected.
Members in Need Fund – The Members in Need Fund is specially set aside for members of our congregation who find themselves in emergency situations or short term need. This fund has assisted congregants with short term rent needs, schooling expenses, assistance with funding for the church retreat, legal aid, emergency travel needs, and more. Contributions to this fund are given through the regular offering by marking your gift for this special fund.
